Tour Overview
Embark on a memorable Mae Hong Son Loop Tour, a journey that takes you deep into the heart of Northern Thailand's stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Starting from Chiang Mai, this adventure leads you along winding mountain roads, through quaint towns, and into hidden corners of Mae Hong Son province
Day 1 : Chiang Mai – Maesariang
Your adventure begins with a morning hotel pick-up in Chiang Mai between 08:00 and 08:30 am. The first destination is the beautiful Doi Inthanon National Park, home to Thailand's highest peak. Here, breathe in the cool mountain air and enjoy panoramic views from the famous King and Queen Pagoda, surrounded by vibrant gardens.
Next, visit the powerful Wachiratarn Waterfall, where you can stand close enough to feel its refreshing spray—an ideal photo stop and a great start to your nature-filled day.
After a delicious Thai lunch at a local restaurant, continue to Obluang National Park, known as the "Land of Prehistoric Humans." Walk along a scenic trail through towering gorges and admire the powerful river cutting through ancient rock formations.
In the late afternoon, enjoy a scenic drive to Mae Sariang, a charming riverside town. Check in at the River House Resort, a comfortable 3-star hotel where you'll enjoy dinner and free time to unwind by the river
Day 2 : Maesariang – Muang Mae Hong Son
After breakfast, the day kicks off with a visit to Kaew Komol Cave, famous for its rare white calcite crystal walls that create a magical snow-like appearance inside the cavern.
If you're traveling between late November and mid-December, your next stop will be the spectacular Mexican Sunflower Fields at Doi Mae U-Khor in Khun Yuam. The rolling hills turn a bright yellow, offering one of Thailand's most stunning seasonal sights.
Following lunch at a local spot, you'll continue to Ban Huay Pu Keng, a Karen Long Neck village. Here, you'll have the opportunity to meet villagers, learn about their traditions, and take beautiful photos with the women wearing their iconic brass neck rings.
In the late afternoon, visit the tranquil Wat Jong Kham and Wat Jong Klang, two lakeside temples that offer a perfect reflection in the calm waters at sunset.
The day ends with a short drive to the cozy Fern Resort, surrounded by lush forest. Enjoy dinner and a peaceful evening amid nature.
Day 3 : Muang Mae Hong Son – Pai
Start your morning with a visit to Phra That Doi Kong Mu Temple, perched high above Mae Hong Son town. From here, soak in panoramic views of misty valleys and surrounding mountains.
Next, head to Ban Jabo, a Lahu village known for its incredible cliffside noodle shop. Enjoy a bowl of tasty noodles while sitting at wooden benches overlooking breathtaking mountain landscapes.
After lunch, prepare for adventure at Tham Lod Cave, one of Northern Thailand's most impressive limestone caves. Float through the cavern on a bamboo raft, guided by lantern-carrying locals. Inside, marvel at massive stalactites and ancient teakwood coffins believed to date back thousands of years.
As sunset approaches, drive to Phra That Mae Yen Temple, offering spectacular views over Pai and its surrounding valley. For guests unable to climb or with limited time, we offer an alternative sunset viewpoint at Two Huts Pai.
The evening concludes with free time at Pai Walking Street, where you can enjoy street food, live music, and local arts and crafts. Check in at the 4-star Yoma Hotel for a restful night.
Day 4 : Pai – Chiang Mai
Begin your final day with a sunrise view at Yun Lai Viewpoint, one of Pai's most famous lookout spots. The early morning mist often blankets the valley below, creating an unforgettable scene.
Next, explore Santichon Village, a Yunnanese-Chinese settlement known for its traditional architecture and delicious tea houses. Walk through the village, take photos, and sample local snacks.
Cool off with a visit to Mor Pang Waterfall, a favorite local swimming spot surrounded by jungle greenery. Enjoy the refreshing water and take time to relax.
After lunch, take a short hike at Pai Canyon, famous for its dramatic red earth ridges and scenic viewpoints overlooking the Pai Valley.
Before heading back to Chiang Mai, make one last stop at the historic Tha Pai Memorial Bridge, a steel truss bridge built during World War II. Learn about its history and snap a few memorable photos.
Finally, enjoy the beautiful mountain drive back to Chiang Mai, arriving around 7:00 pm, completing your incredible Mae Hong Son Loop Tour adventure.
