Kok River National Park, The territorial of river : Have a short cut out of the city of Chiang Rai to visiting the land of the Kok river. It is not just a beautiful scenery of the Kok river but it is also natural attractions which suitable for the study of many kinds of plants. The explorers are also looking forward to getting to know each other and the National interest of Kok river. Not only that, It also features a nice waterfall and a hot spring of the park as well.

On July 2001 and in the budget year 2002, the Royal Forest Department planned the program and the estimates to assume setting Lam Nam Kok to be a National Park including approval to construct the office buildings at the site of Huai Maldiam watershed management unit office, in the local of Doi Hang sub-district, Mueang District, Chiang Rai province. Permission using this area was from the Royal Forest Department on May 10, 2002.

Geography

Topography of Lam Nam Kok National Park is high sloped mountainous alternate narrow plain.

Climate

The summer from March to May, rainy from June to October and winter from November to February.

Lamnamkok National Park composed 4 of forest types as Dry dipterocarp forest. Hill evergreen forest and Mixed deciduous forest.

Khun Kon waterfall

Pong Phra Bat Waterfall is the most easily accessible waterfalls from Chiang Rai. The water from the falls is ice cold compared to the nearby Pong Phra Bat Hot Springs and flows into a rocky stream that’s suitable for wading. A picnic area is available, though you’ll need to bring your own food.

Huai Mak Liam Hot Springs

Huai Mak Liam Hot Springs is come from the nature heat beneath the world, which has hot water to bob up all time. When brought the eggs into this hot spring about 30 minutes, the flavor of the boiled egg will better and more delicious than normal boiled. This waterfall is appropriate for night visitor to put up the tent in the beautiful night.

Pong Phra Bat Hot Springs

Pong Phra Bat Hot Springs is the most easily accessible waterfalls from Chiang Rai. The water from the falls is ice cold compared to the nearby Pong Phra Bat Hot Springs and flows into a rocky stream that’s suitable for wading. A picnic area is available, though you’ll need to bring your own food.

Rafting on the Mae Kok River

Rafting Rafting is offered both on the Mae Kok River and on the Mekong River. Of the 4,500-kilometer Mekong, one of the mightiest rivers of Asia, begins in Tibet and flows into the South China Sea. The Mekong can be explored downstream of Chiang Saen on an exciting 3-hour boat ride to Chiang Khong. A quieter route starts from Sop Ruak.

The 130km long Mae Kok is one of the most scenic and unspoiled rivers in Thailand. Rafting trips are often combined with local excursions such as elephant treks to the hill tribes. You can choose between short trips or long distances, staying overnight in the villages.

Accomodation

This national park is still in establishing process, so there are no bungalows, tents, and a restaurant available. Please bring your own tents and food.

How to get there

From Chiangmai to Chiangrai, be able to take a bus Chiangmai – Chiangrai with regular or air-condition bus at Chiangmai Bus Station 2 (Arcade).

From Chiangrai Province to Chiangrai road-Bandenha crossroad pass Khai Mengrai Maharat then go to Doi Hang sub-district and 19 kms to Ban Phasert then go about 1.5 kms to headquarters or will chose to raft along Lam Nam Kok with travel from Lam Nam Kok bridge in the city of Chiangrai, about 20 kms to headquarters.

For the tourist who would like to go to Lam Nam Kok National Park and travelling in Chiangrai such as White Temple, Doi Tung and Hilltribe Villages but there’s a limit time or need more comfortable to travel. We recommend to contact us to help and arrange the package tours service.
