Bo Klua County is super famous for its natural way of making salt. The salt is made on mountains. Now, that’s strange but interesting, Nobody is able to copy that. For your information, the salt making community has been being this way for long. Its salt has been popular and transport to many other areas, , including Sukhothau, Luang Pra Bang, in order to be put on sale.

Nowadays, there are only two salt ponds in this area, but there were so many in the past.

Beside of watching how the salt is made, you will want to tour the 8 villages within this community. Enjoy learning about local lifestyle and feel the fresh air in the middle of green mountains.

The salt here isn’t made in factories. Instead, it’s made in traditional way. Villagers will get the salt water from the ponds, transfer it through bamboo rails, then boil it for about 4-5 hours. After letting it dry, the salt will be moved into baskets. The salt will be put on sale in front of villagers’ houses. You can purcahse for a bag if you want to. However, the salt here doesn’t have Iodine like general salt.

The salt isn’t only for food consuming, but it’s also made into many other types of products, including beauty products like spa salt or salt soap.

Best of all, there are several shelther around the salt community. You can book one to have fun for days.

How to get there

Bo Klua Communiry is about 80 kilometres away from the heart of Nan Province. You should head for Santisuk County first. Just go that way, but don’t stop at Santisuk County. Just before 2 kilometres before the county, you should turn left, continue straight, and then turn right. Soon you will reach Bo Klua.

If you don’t have a personal car, that’s fine. Just grab a transport vehicle that take you from Ban to Pua County. Get off at Pua County, somewher at Pua Market. Then get another vehicle that leads you from Pua to Bo Klua or another way,most hotels or Travel Agency in Chiang Mai and Nan will be able to book the car rental with driver for you.

Opening hours and Entrance fee : Opens daily from 6.30 am until 6 pm. Admission is free.
