Doi Phu Miang ‘Enjoy hiking of 3 days and two nights.’

If you’re in perfect health, you will want to go hiking for once in lifetime. And, speaking of a perfect place for doing so, Doi Phu Miang is an interesting one.

Doi Phu Miang is the highest mountain of Phu Miang-Phu Tong Animal Preservation Area. The whole area is about 696,512,000 square metres large. The northeast mostly consists of long lines of high mountains. The southwest  mostly consists of lowland.

The area is also the important river source of various brooks, for examples, Tron Brook, Juang Brook, Niam Brook etc.

When to travel

In case you want to go hiking, you are suggested to avoid travelling during April to October, as it’s rainy season. Believe us, you don’t want to start hiking happily but, suddenly, it rains heavily.

For other months, you can travel during any time you want. The weather at Doi Phu Miang is neither too hot nor too cold.

Enjoy walking through these woodlands! 

There are many woodlands around Doi Phu Miang. Woodlands can be found at both foothills and mountain ridges. For foothills, there will be mixed forests and deciduous dipterocarp forest. But, for mountain ridges, there will be semi-evergreen forest and montane forest, along with meadows and bamboo forest.

On your way, you will see lots of interesting plants. You may possibly meet some mammals, for examples, deers, warthogs, wild cats, monkeys etc.

Spend at least 3 days and two nights at Doi Phu Mian. Two days and one night won’t be enough for you to go around and see those marvellous woodlands. There are camping grounds for tourists. On your first day of arrival, choose your favourite spot and get your tent settled. Put all your camping equipments in their positions. Of course, you have to cook your own food. But that sounds fun, doesn’t it? You make a fire, you get your pot or pan, you put your ingredients in, you cook what you want, then you eat it. In the evening, you can sit around the fire, roast sausages to eat, and sing with your family. Don’t start hiking on the first day of your arrival, as you will be too exhausted.

On the second day, you should get up early for a little bit. You will want to make a new fire to warm yourself, get your pan ready, pour oil in the pan, and fry a few eggs for breakfast. Then you should take a leisure walk around your shelter. Don’t immediately start hiking, our you will have a pain in your stomach.

After a while, you can start hiking. Be careful, don’t go hiking alone. Go with your friends, other tourist friends, or your family.

For the third day, you may just start to pack your things in early morning. But if you’re hungry, you can just cook a quick breakfast first. Eat it, then it won’t be too late to start your packing.

After finishing your packing, you don’t have to rush yourself and get out of Doi Phu Miang. Instead, you should take out your camera, switch it on, and carry it around the moutain to take a lot of stunning photos. You may don’t have enough time to take photos during your hiking. Therefore, let’s do this before you leave.

How to get there

Doi Phu Miang is located in the area of Ton Sak Yai National Park, Nam Pad County, Tong Saen Khan Sib-County, and Tron County of Uttaradit Province. It also takes place in Charttrakarn County of Phitsanulok.

You may get to Uttaradit Bus Station for the first thing. There you can get a two-row seat truck to get you to Doi Phu Miang, but lump sum payment, which can be started from 1,000-2,000 Baht, may be required.

Your truck will let you make a stop on the way, as there is a market. You can buy some groceries to cook your food at your camp.
