This following place should be one of the must-go vintage tourist attractions. It’s good for everybody in families to go.

This holiday, if you can’t think of any places else, just grab your kids’ hands, or your love one’s hand, then head for Khum Vongburi House Museum.

Khum Vongburi House Museum is an old-fashioned house, of course. It doesn’t just look old, but it also contains a long-time history. It was built centuries ago from the idea of Lady Bua Tha, the  wife of Prince Piriyathepwong, who was the last ruler of Phrae. The house was meant to be the wedding gift of Lady Sunanda and Prince Phongpibul.

As soon as you and your family arrive at the place, just make a stop at the front side. Take a photo with the house as the background first. Really, the house is very beautiful. You will want to have at least one memorial photo. The house is decorated in European-Thai style. It’s covered in pink color and made of teakwood. There are carvings all over. The Khum Vongburi  house consists of two levels.

Don’t worry. You and your family can get inside, as it’s a museum now. When you get in, you will see old decoration items, which look very beautiful. Walk around to see the real bedroom, living room, working room, dining room etc. Then you should realize how the owners lived in the past. Anyway, photography is prohibited at some parts of the house. Therefore, you need to be careful.

Also, don’t touch any exhibitions. Remember, they’re really old. They may can’t be fixed if they’re damaged. Just see them with your eyes only.

Speaking of the exhibitions, there are so many, for examples, an abacus,  lamps, clocks, a dressing table, a radio, fans, utensils, a bed etc. Some exhibitions are kept safe in the middle of rope borders. If you have small kids with you, be sure to keep your eyes on them. Don’t let them cross the ropes, or they may break something.

Khum Vongburi is open everyday, from 9:00-17:00.

The admission fee only costs 30 Baht.

How to get there

Khum Vongburi House Museum is located on Kham Lue Road, Muang County of Phrae. Just use the same route to Wat Pong Sunan, as it’s located near the museum, if your do not have car. Do not worry, you can contact travel agency in Chiang Mai or you can contact local agency to arrange the car rental with driver for you.

Opening hours and Entrance fee : Opens daily from 9 am until 5 pm. Admission is 30 THB
