Tour Overview

Day 1 : 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. : Pick-up from hotel or guest-house by pick-up truck.

We will leave Chiang Mai on highway 108 past the airport to Sanphathong, an about 40 min. drive. We will make a stop at a local market. The guide will buy the food for the trek and you have time to buy some things you might need on the trek. After an about 1 hr. drive to the Wachiratarn waterfall in the Doi Inthanon National Park. Here we will make the mid-day break and and have lunch for about 1 hour. After the break we will drive about 30 min. to the Twin Royal Pagodas and then to the 2565 m. high peak of Doi Inthanon. Then we will drive another 45 min to the end of the road at a Meo hilltribe village, where we start trekking. For about 2 hours the guide will lead you through a wonderful evergreen jungle landscape, through bamboo forests, lianas, rhododendrons and lots of other vegetation. Also there are lots of beautiful birds. The walk will lead us to a Karen hilltribe village, where we will stay overnight.

Day 2 : The next morning, after breakfast we will trek through the jungle to a waterfall for about 2.5 hours. There we will have lunch. Then we will trek another 2.5 hours to a Karen hilltribe village. There we will spend our second night.

Day 3 : The next morning, after breakfast we will trek for about 1.5 hours to a jungle waterfall. From there a pick-up truck will bring us to Mae Mud village, a village of the Shan tribe (Tai Yai). There we will have lunch. After lunch we will go bamboo rafting on the Mae Wang Stream for about 1 hour. The rafts are made of bamboo stems fit together with ropes. Then spend the day feeding, bathing and learning interesting facts about Asian elephants in their natural environment. After the elephant activities we will drive back to Chiang Mai where we will arrive at about 17:00 – 17:30
