Phan District – Attractions in Phan
Phan is a district (amphoe) in the southern part of Chiang Rai Province, northern Thailand.
Neighboring districts are (from the south west clockwise) Wiang Pa Pao, Mae Suai, Mae Lao, Mueang Chiang Rai, Pa Daet of Chiang Rai Province, Mae Chai of Phayao province and Wang Nuea of Lampang Province. If you want to travel by car total distance is about 48.88 kms.
Doi Luang National Park
Doi Luang National Park is 65 kilometers south of Chiang Rai town and covers an area of 1,170 square kilometers, and extends into areas of Chaing Mai, Lampang and Phayao provinces. in Phan District. Apart from hiking trails, the forested park features a few waterfalls of which the largest is Pu Kaeng Waterfall. This impressive fall has nine leaps and flows all year round. To reach Pu Kaeng Waterfall drive along the Chiang Rai – Phayao route for 58 kilometers to arrive at Ban Pu Kaeng. At kilometer 77, take a right turn and proceed on for another 9 kilometers. It is a large waterfall amid virgin jungle with water cascading down limestone brooks. Camping areas and jungle trekking services are available.
The construction started in 1998 and is expected to be completed in 2008. In addition, there is a gallery nearby exhibiting his paintings. To get there from the city of Chiang Rai, drive north along Asia Highway.

Wat Jee Kong
From the city of Chiang Rai drive on high way No. 1 toMae Chan District and a doorway of this foundation ison the right (1 kilometer before the doorway of Mae Fah Luang University). Enter the doorway and drive along concrete road, the foundation is at the end of hard soil road.
Jee Kong Goddess : An image of Sitting Jee Kong Goddess (The biggest image in Chiang Rai) The moral principles establishment of Num Phing Jee Ying Kor is situated in Moo 15,T. Maung Kham ,Phan district , Chiang Rai Province. Parting from Phahonyathin Road, following the road and go inside Doi Luang National Park and Poo Kaeng Waterfall for about 5 kms. Old Jee Kong Shrine is a little shrine.Then, a new Num Phing establishment is built by his disciple.The purpose is to be an altar of ancestor sign and to be a resting place for his disciple. And then, a new Jee Kong Shrine is built for enshrining the Image of Jee Kong Goddess. He is 7.6 metres wide, 8.8 metres high and 3 tons weigh, made by bronze.The rite of putting the eyes into an image of Jee Kong is 13 April 2546 B.E.
