Well, in case to find something that can comfort your boiling mind or extinguish your stress, some place cool should do best. And some place cool can be a waterfall, as it is surrounded with beautiful natural resources, beside of water. Therefore if you see it, you will feel better for sure.

Mae Sa Waterfall is a waterfall in Mae Rim County, Chiang Mai. It is a 10-storied waterfall that looks absolutely stunning.

The waterfall is available from 8:00-17:00. You may want to get up a little bit early if you want to spend many hours there.

If you want to play in the water, don’t forget to bring your spare clothes too, or you will have to get soaked and go home in that condition.

The area of Mae Sa Waterfall is quite enormous. As soon as you arrive at it, you should see the big sign written ‘Mae Sa Waterfall’. Of course, there are parking lots for tourists. Therefore don’t worry about where you will park your car. And there are restaurants within parking lots too.

From the parking lots, you will have to walk for another 150 metres before you can reach the waterfall. Beside, the admission fee is 20 Baht for an adult, 10 Baht for a child, and 200 Baht for a foreigner. Lastly, 30 Baht for a car parking.

You may think that 150 metres is a far way. But, believe this, you will not feel exhausted at all, as there are green trees all the way to the waterfall. Therefore you should feel more comfortable than exhausted.

However, as you already know that Mae Sa Waterfall consists of 10 stories. You can choose to visit only some of these stories, or you can visit them all if your body can handle it.

Don’t worry about getting lost, because there will be signs tell you the directions of every waterfall levels.

When you reach the waterfall, you will feel surprised at it. The water source is cool, clear, and wide. There are rocks around, so you can lay a mat on and have a wonderful picnic with your family. But, always remember, don’t make the waterfall dirty. You must not let your trash ruin the beauty of this marvelous place.

Before eating, you can get soaked in the waterfall if you want to. There are many spots for you to play the water. Also, you shouldn’t play in there alone, but you should take someone with you too, in order to watch over your safety.

The best part of Mae Sa Waterfall is that you can spend the nights! This is true, of course. There aren’t shelters for tourists, but there are tents for rent and camping spots. If you want to have a natural camping at least onces in your lifetime, don’t hesitate to do it.

How to get there 

Mae Sa Waterfall is located at the 7th kilometre of Mae Rim-Samoeng Road, Mae Rim County, Chiang Mai. This is not too far from Chiang Mai downtown. It will not take too much time to travel.

First, you should start your trip by driving to the north side of Mae Rim County. Then, you should reach the intersection of the waterfall. From that point, just turn left and keep going along Mae Rim-Samoeng for about 9 kilometres.

Or, if you don’t have a personal car, you can use a public vehicle. Just choose a one with Chiang Mai-Samoeng Route next to Wat Mae Rim, or a one with Chiang Mai-Mae Rim from Warorot Market.

Entrance fee & opening hours : Open from 8.00am to 5.00pm.

The admission fee is 20 THB for an adult, 10 THB for a child for Thai people and 200 THB for a foreigner.
